Instructor, Intervention Specialist

We are hiring an Instructor / Intervention Specialist to join our team at Camp Aspen in Columbia, SC. In this direct care role, you will be helping at-risk adolescents in their journey BUILDING BETTER FUTURES!

Camp Aspen is a community-based residential program that provides services to juvenile offenders that have been identified as needing substance abuse education and services. Camp Aspen has a capacity for 30 boys ages 12-19 that are referred from the South Carolina Department of Justice.

Essential Functions

· Employ a wide variety of instructional methods, behavioral tools, and materials that are most appropriate for meeting standard operating procedures and educational objectives that are outlined in the school mission.

· Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the clients’ maturity.

· Accurately complete client point cards, clinical weekly notes, and daily communication with teachers of record (TOR).

· Provide effective people security (e.g., headcounts, room checks, client movement).

· Know and implement emergency procedures (e.g., evacuation, CPR/first aid).

· Reviews daily lesson plans from the teacher of record (TOR) and completes all required educational paperwork

· Participate as an educational team member in coordination with the clients, staff, and school and represents the program in professional meetings, family meetings, educational conferences, and instructor trainings.

· Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.

· Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

· Committed to work within the year-round school calendar of South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice School District.
